Dead. Les Paul made the best guitar ever, The Gibson Les Paul, of which, I have a 1975 Gibson Les Paul Recording.

This Wisconsin native invented the electric guitar, and pioneered multi-tracking:

By placing a phonograph needle in the guitar, all six strings were amplified, which proved to be much louder. Paul was playing a working prototype of the electric guitar in 1929.

Holy Christ, this is in 1929!

I am glad to say that I saw him before he plucked his last power chord during his final solo into the stars.
